A century of Irish creativity

Director of Creative Writing, Eibhear Walshe, will be speaking on a panel at the Dublin Books Festival this Saturday (November 12) following the launch of the Royal Irish Academy’s new book, Modern Ireland in 100 Artworks, https://www.ria.ie/news/modern-ireland-100-artworks  of which he is a joint editor.

Broadcaster Mike Murphy will chair a debate on a century of Irish creativity with Eibhear and co-editors Fintan O’Toole, Catherine Marshall and artist Aideen Barry, whose 2015 artwork, Silent Moves, was chosen by the public to complete the list of 100 Irish artworks.The panellists will assess the artworks that made it past the chopping block and question whether their list is representative of our cultural identity.

The book, which has been nominated for the best Irish-published book of the year in the Bord Gais Book Awards, http://www.irishbookawards.irish/ will be launched at Smock Alley Theatre at 5pm.
