[Spring Semester 2017 – Conal Creedon]
UCC’s School of English has hosted an annual writer-in-residence since the mid-1990s in co-operation with the College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Science and the Arts Council. The chosen writer enhances the literary life of the campus by giving readings, offering workshops to the university community at large, and by leading a special guest workshop for the Masters in Creative Writing programme. Previous holders of the position include Leanne O’Sullivan, Patrick Galvin, Mary Morrissy, Claire Keegan, Matthew Sweeney and Antonia Logue. This module offers a flexible space within which to encounter advanced writing methods in a range of genres and allows for an intensive and self-aware examination of the process of creating imaginative writing.
